The “Original Griffitts Construction Co., Inc.” would like to take this opportunity to explain and apologize for what has become an unfortunate, and regrettable occurrence over the years. We would ask that you read below and help us inform others.

Any business that has built a strong reputation, experiences the same sort of situation to some degree, as we are about to describe. Except to keep our customers informed, there is no way for Griffitts Construction Company to protect our valued clients from the confusion created by other companies, (who for whatever reason, misrepresent their company to be ours) . These companies are not in any way a part of Griffitts Construction Company

Our circumstances are that:
a.) WE ARE A BIG FAMILY
b.) MANY FAMILY MEMBERS WERE TAUGHT THE TRADE
c.) THERE ARE FAMILY MEMBERS OUT THERE WHO HAVE STARTED THEIR OWN COMPANIES.
d.) THESE COMPANIES DO ADVERTISE AND SOMETIMES EVEN RECEIVE CALLS WHICH WERE INTENDED FOR US.

They tell people “Yes, we are located on Dirksen Pkwy”, “That’s right we had a fire in 1996”, “It was my three brothers and I that started the business”, or “I remember, we did your mother’s house in the late 70’s”, and so on. MANY TIMES CAUSING CONFUSION AND EXPENSE FOR PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE DEALING WITH US.

You name it we’ve heard it. They lie to OUR CUSTOMERS, they write contracts and do work for our prospective clients all the while leading them to believe that they are dealing with the Original Griffitts Construction Company. Sometimes they just take a message intended for us and throw it away leading the caller to assume we are ignoring them.

THE “OTHER Griffitts” HAVE A LEGAL RIGHT TO USE THEIR LAST NAME, SO WE CAN’T STOP THEM FROM USING THE GRIFFITTS NAME.
WE CAN’T MAKE THEM TELL THE TRUTH EITHER.

We continue to make every effort possible to alleviate the confusion . Still we do receive calls from people experiencing problems with their jobs. Our service department would be out promptly to fix the problem, however, upon a search of our records we find their not on our job list. We apologize and ask them to look at their contract.

FOR THE FIRST TIME THEY DISCOVER:

It only says “Griffitts” at the top (not Griffitts Construction)
Different address
Different phone number
DIFFERENT COMPANY-DIFFERENT WORK ETHIC-DIFFERENT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION POLICY.
TOO LATE

They didn’t read their contract . They did not verify who they were doing business with. And now they are stuck with whatever quality or lack of quality that was performed. Unfortunately, it does not matter what was said in the home. The only thing that matters by this point is, they have signed a contract with someone and don’t even know what company they are from. They are then stuck with the outcome.

These are the reasons for our warning! We wish that these things didn’t happen. We sincerely regret there is nothing more we can do to protect the our valued clients. We ask your help in spreading the word when you are referring us to others. Please inform them that they need to call the Original Griffitts Construction Co. . Their project will run smoothly from consultation to completion of work.

One should make it a practice upon signing any contract to take a few minutes and do the following. Call the home office to make sure they’ve received your paperwork. Any reputable company will be more than happy to take your call. Look in the phonebook, verify the address on your contract and the home office address are the same. Make sure all your concerns are addressed before a project is started. It will be worth the effort.
